Get Out for Some Tennis Fun (and Competition)
The GCTA's first big program is our Weekly Play Nights, scattered at various tennis centers across the region. Come on out, and we'll hook you up with some fun and competitive play on Mondays, Tuesday and Thursdays (with more nights coming). For now, these nights are free to everyone, and we generally have a wide mix of skill levels and ages. For more information, contact the coordinator at the playnight you plan to attend.

Other sites (and nights) coming just as soon as volunteer coordinators step up: Brazosport High School; Angleton High School; Angleton Jr. High; Columbia High School; Jasmine Park, Lake Jackson; Brazosport College; Bay City High School; Wharton High School; Wharton Community College; Calhoun High School; Bayou Bay Tennis Center and more... Please contact us if you can coordinate a night.
Please note that it's best to call the site coordinator and/or check the GCTA Facebook Group before you head out to a play night. Weather and other factors may result in cancelation some weeks.
How it works:
Just show up ready to play. (Please bring your own water and some -- relatively new -- balls. Also please understand that most of our locations do not have restrooms available. This is something our association will work to change in the coming days.)
After a introductory warm-up session, the coordinator will establish the format, and opponents, for the night. It will vary according to the number of players who show up. In general, everyone will get a chance to play multiple short matches of both singles and doubles at (or near) their GCTA Self-Rated Level. (See our Membership Terms and Conditions.) And we usually work in some drill time too.
Notes: Youth may play some matches against adults in their skill level, and men may play against women. The play is VERY informal.
The weekly play nights are a free benefit for GCTA members. For now, non-member also welcome to participate for free. But that's subject to change. (We hope you'll enjoy the Play Nights so much that you'll end up wanting to play in our challenge ladders and tournaments. Those won't be free for non-members.)
